The installation 'Down to Scale' is a presentation, a forest- landscape of jewellery. In this project I show jewellery in it’s primal shape, in the form of a cast tree. The casting-tree is one of the first stages in a process that is normally not available/accessible for anybody else than the maker.
Jewellers use a casting technique where pieces are first made in wax and then cast in plaster. The wax is melted out of the plaster mold and liquid metal fills the empty space. After cooling the plaster is removed and what is left is a casting-tree.
